First off they are good discs, because I have used them many times before as is the partition. I had the motherboard replaced by HP not too long ago and this past week I started to have windows explorer errors and crashes, so I went to re-install windows and I got an error saying that neither the partition or the discs would work for my computer. Has anyone else had an issue using HP recovery after a motherboard install under warranty?
Thanks

I guess Im the only one who has experienced this.

I found both the burned disks and partition wouldn't work on my system, even though nothing had changed; I spent the $15 and ordered the recovery discks from HP and they worked fine.

If your still in warranty just phone HP up and tell them your problem they will send you the recovery disks free of charge i have done this on 3 laptops i'v had truble with burning recovery backups that dont work
But like you will no you only get one chance at burning the disks if that fails your bugged but HP will give you free replacments sent to your door do not pay for them

The only thing is I dont want any of the bloatware. Do these discs create a clean install or a factory install?

They create a factory install, to do a clean Vista install you would need a Vista Anytime Upgrade disk or a 'regular' Vista disk and a copy of the swsetup folder (drivers, etc.) from your pc.
See this very helpful sticky, Clean Vista Install with No Activation:

Yeah I already went through that. I have a bootable disc that always pauses at "completing setup". No matter how many times I remake the disc it still wont finish setup. I have to upgrade to business as it will be going to work with me, so Ill have to upgrade sooner then I wanted to.
Recovery partiton and discs dont work.
