Hi i am thinking of doing a recovery back to factory condition, my questions are can you still access your files in the windows.old section of the c-drive? and also if i do a minimal recovery, can i then do a full recovery at a later date?....and what parts of the recovery are not installed on a minimal recovery?........
    thx grant.

Why would you want to do a minimal and then a full?

I did a minimal recovery, but I did it to a separate drive so I'm not sure about the "windows.old" section, but I believe recovery wipes the partition before installing itself. Minimal recovery will install all "critical" HP software and drivers and leave out the "bloatware." Unless you use a lot of the programs that came with the computer I'd recommend a minimal restore.

if you have burned your recovery discs, you can do any kind of recovery. i had an envy 14 beats which i had done a clean windows 7 install to remove all the bloatware. the machine ran so much better without all the extra stuff. you can always download the drives from the hp website and also things like hp media and hp support manager.
i then sold the laptop to my sister so i used the discs and did a factory reset to bring it back to original state with the partition drive and everything installed.
