I have a dv5000 that I got in June and had been having a lot of BSoD the past few months so I decided to reformat the other day to get rid of anything that might be causing them. I used a XP Home disc to reformat, and at first I thought everything was fine, but then the Blue Screens and Random Shutdowns started again. Today I was in class using the laptop to take notes when I got a Blue Screen and it took 25 mintues to it back on, as it would either BSoD during startup, or the system would seemingly turn on, but not boot.

So now I want to try recovering it to factory defaults and testing a few days to see if it is hardware or software causing the BSoDs, but I don't have System Recovery in my All Programs list due to the fresh install.

Is it still possible to run the HP System Recovery program?

Also running the Hardware Scan on the HP site lists:
Serial: Device has a problem » More information
Could this be the cause of the BSoDs?
