I was wondering if anyone has purchased refurbished items from eCost or other 3rd party dealers. I saw some killer deals for notebooks (HP DV1000s in particular). I called the sales rep and he said that there is a 90 day warranty with HP and if you wanted to extend the 2-3 yr warranty it would have to be with "servicenet", a 3rd party repair service. Would you go this route?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply vassil, so you got yours from ecost? Also would you mind telling my your specs/price? eCost got a L2000 for under $1000

Personally would stay away from refurned laptops. You can usually find it cheaper new. Check the deals section on the frontPage.

I just bougth the HP L2000 Lance Armstrong Special edition for $799 at Costco. It's a refurb but for $800 you can't beat it. They also have the HP DV1156 for $899 but I wanted built-in bluetooth and the L2000 has a bigger and faster HDD.

Mine cost $1,089 if I remember correctly. I was really in a hurry and couldn't wait for HP to bring me v2000z with ML-37...
The specs are in the signiture. I think a week after I purchased it, ecost released another super deal on it. Btw, my model is l2005us. I noticed most people who complained about the L2000 have the L2005ca model; not sure if there's any connection. Anyway, the notebook came sealed from HP. The only thing which suggested it was not from HP was the ecost invoice. Everything else was just like the zv6000 I got from HP
