I was wondering about the mobility differences between the two. I like the 6000 for the TL-56, 256mb 7200 video, and the 15 in screen. but am leaning towards the 2000 for its size. Is the 6000 easy to carry around campus in a backpack?

For mobility the dv2000 would be the better choice. The dv6000 is ~6.6lb for the 6 cell battery + add the weight pf the charger, so the total weight would just ~7lb. The dv2000 OTOH will be around <6lbs with the charger and 6 cell battery. The dv6000 will also bigger considering the screen size. Definately the dv2000 is the better choice if you want to be mobile. If you want the Go7200 then consider the dv2000t.

It comes down to personal preference since some people can carry heavy loads whle others cant. I personally would not carry around a 15.4" laptop around.

It depends on who's carrying the notebook. I'm 6'1" and didn't have much trouble lugging around an 8 pound zv5000z. A 15.4" screen will be easier for people to crowd around on those group projects colleges are so fond of these days. I did spring for a nice notebook backpack though (Spire Volt XL).

I'd seriously consider the 12 cell battery upgrade in either case. Worth the extra weight depending on how long you know you'll be away from a power outlet.

Most people will notice the extra weight though, as miner said.
