I have a HP Compaq 6710b running Vista.

If this is Shutdown (not sleep), then when restarting the indexing is lost, which means that i can not search for emails and files until it has completed a reindexing which takes about 4 hours.

Can anyone tell me why this happens and how to prevent / stop it.

Obviously i can just do sleep rather than shutdown (which i have been doing) but want to cure the problem.

    thanks
