No,they aren't the same notebook. The V4000t is related to its cousin the dv4000, which has slightly better build quality IMO. The HP NC8230 is a buisness notebook, I think, whereas the V4000t/dv4000 have X700 GPUs for a good gaming/multimedia experience.

So you think the MM notebook (V4000t) has better build than a business notebook?(NC8230)
I was going to satisfy the X700 for better quility and classy style of NC8230

I think he meant that that the DV4000 has better build quality than the V4000t.

The NC8230 would definitely be built better than the DV4000.

I found that the european NC8230 has magnesium alloy cover, how about the US version? I found no info about this in the hp website

The U.S. version should be the same, although notebook makers are known to switch around their spec in different regions. HP is a U.S. maker, so I don't think they'll short change us!

The NC8230 is better built and more expensive.

    I am getting a NC8230 (1.73ghz 40gb 64mb x600 512ddr) + basic docking station+ ext traveling battery for $1085. So I guess I will just go for it.
It looks retuculus to use huge gaming laptop to do presentation.
