Last night I removed most of the bloatware, but I ended up leaving some of it because I thought it was necessary. Do I HAVE to keep any of the HP stuff? Like the HP Update, HP Health thing, etc?

Also, can I disable all of the HP stuff in msconfig? What about stuff like HP Quickplay Buttons, and stuff like that? I dont want to mess any of that stuff of.

I'll post a screenshot of my start menu and msconfig and you'll can tell me what to remove if you want.

    Thanks in advance!!

A screen shot would help, but here's some comments:
HP Update ==> You can safely delete that annoying program.
HP Health ==> I'd keep it...easy access to info on your laptop.
HP QuickPlay ==> Keep it, you need it for your function buttons and media buttons to work.

I'm wondering where can I get the installation program for the HP Total Care Advisor? I'm probably going to wipe my install when I get my laptop and install my University copy of Ultimate, but that program looks pretty useful.

What about the Roxio stuff that came with it? If it's just a trial, I dont want it. Is it the full version of Roxio?

Also, here's a screenshot of my Add/Remove Programs:

I made the icons big so you'll could see. What should stay, what should go??

I think it's a full version. But one thing I'm wondering is do you really want to keep Norton? That's bloat for sure.

My daughter's new dv2000t came with a 60 day trial of Norton Internet Security 2007, which is so improved, it's a really good suite. I am using the retail version of NIS 2007, and it's much lighter on resources, and very effective. I'm including a link to a thread in Wilderssecurity forum from posters' who have tried to new version and changed their opinion on this product.

So check out the pic that I posted and tell me what I should remove (if anything). Should I keep Norton? And Roxio?

Unless you have a favorite antivirus and firewall, I'd give Norton a try, and if you don't like it, then replace it with something else.

you wanna basically remove anything YOU wont use.

if you like nero, get rid of roxio. if you like norton, keep it, otherwise have a different antivirus ready, then uninstall norton and install your antivirus to replace it.

my question is if people keep their HP wireless assistant or HPNetwork. I'm assuming the HP Wireless Assistant is just that little pop up that tells you your wireless and bluetooth are on, am i correct?
