How do you do it!?
I bought a replacement keyboard for $90, and I took the computer apart from the backplate as far as I could and still couldn't reach the keyboard (the grey assembly on the back corner that I assume is the power supply or something similar since the AC cable plugs into it seems to be still attached). I can't even figure out how to get to that side of the computer because there aren't any screws visibly holding the motherboard in place. It's driving me nuts, and I can't find any sort of help on the internet, nor do I have the proper reference material here, otherwise I would rtfm and get on with it (so if someone could point me to tfm, I would be just as appreciative).

I don't know the answer to your question but I would recommend going to www.notebookanalysis.com and posting your questions there. This is a forum specifically for the Compaq R4000 and its twin, the HP zv6000. I'm sure someone there can help you if there is not someone here that can help you! Good luck!

I'll check it out. Thanks.

The maintainance and Service guide should give you the steps to access and remove the keyboard...

Yeah, sorry, I just found a working link for it. I'll read it and see what I can come up with. Thanks.
