I just bought a new HP ENVY laptop from Fry's with WIN-8. I hate WIN-8 for a variety of reasons. Mainly, it will not allow Microsoft's own Streets & Trips and Office 2000 and an older version of AutoCad14; and I don't like the APPS concept because it is not a touch screen laptop. I bought an OEM HP 64bit full installation WIN-7 PRO with the Microsoft KEY. My first attempt was to change the boot order to DVD drive and disable the SECURE BOOT option. The program started to load by transferring some files and then it hung. I "assume" that I need to do a clean wipe of the old WIN-8. If so, I need some instructions please. Thanks, Joe

    gunny5821,
    Here aresome of those instructions:
    **************
1.Restart your computer with the Windows 7 DVD in your optical drive, or with the properly configured Windows 7 USB flash drive plugged in.
2.Watch for a Press any key to boot from CD or DVD... message similar to the one shown in the screenshot above. If you're booting from a flash drive, the message may be phrased differently, like Press any key to boot from external device....
3.Press a key to force the computer to boot from the Windows 7 DVD or USB storage device. If you do not press a key, your PC will attempt to boot to the next device in the boot order, which is probably your hard drive. If this happens, chances are your current operating system will boot.
    ****************
I can't get by step 1. The OS is WIN-8 and when I put the WIN7-PRO disk in, the DVD player churns for a few seconds and says it is copying files, and then it hangs, never to start again, without shutting down and removing the disk from the DVD player.

I'm still looking for a solution. Joe
