The T2250 has a FSB of 533mhz while the T7700 has a FSB of 800mhz. Whether it would work would depend on what the chipset of your laptop supports and also whether the bios of the notebook has the correct microcode loaded to identify the CPU

    IntelĀ® Core? Duo Processor T2250 (2M Cache, 1.73 GHz, 533 MHz FSB)with SPEC Code(s)SL9DV
    IntelĀ® Core?2 Duo Processor T7700 (4M Cache, 2.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)with SPEC Code(s)SLA3M, SLA43, SLADL, SLAF7

Comparing those two, at least make sure the T7700 has correct socket. Apparently there is two different ones around.

Check the correct model number in the bottom of your laptop, then go to HP website and download service manual. It has listed what processors your motherboard can support. If there's ones with 800 FSB, then it might even work.
