Hey folks, I'm new here and forgive me if this has been posted before, I've been searching the site for over 2 hours and can't find anything... Yesterday I replaced the screen in my DV9000t (running Vista Home) and upon initial boot up I noticed that anything that was black background had the matrix effect with green lines running through it. Also anything on the desktop with a shadow behind it also has the green lines. Same goes for the fonts. Is/was it something I'm doing wrong or could the new screen be bad? I've tried updating drivers, change many different things to no avail. If you need further info on this pc let me know. Thanks so much for the help in advance.

Try plugging in an external display. Do you see the same effect? If not, I'd guess that something's wrong with the internal video cable (not seated properly, broken, wrong type for the new screen) or the screen is a different make and not quite compatible. The new screen could be bad too. If you upgraded to a higher res screen, sometimes HP uses a different cable for those as I belatedly discovered but I'd expect more dramatic symptoms in that case.
