    I need a replacement battery for my DV6500. (EV088AA)
Its not under warranty, so I am paying full price.

    HP wants $129.99 for it.
Other vendors, like batteryhippo.com, are asking $60.

Do any of you have experience with other vendors?
    Are these other vendors reliable?

Is it: Buyer beware? You get what you pay for?
    Or:
Go with the third party vendor and avoid HP's mark-up.

I think BOTH are applicable. I've seen many batteries advertised at very low prices on eBay, and some other posters have said they've had good experiences buying batteries from eBay. To be prudent, always check the seller's guarantee policy. Keep in mind also that if you're buying from an Asian or other far away seller, the mailing costs will most likely be much higher. And if, for whatever reason, you have to return the battery, you've got another high price postage to pay.

I have bought a lot of replacement batteries in the past few years off EBAY. I have had no issues with them. I pay on average about $45.

I've been looking at ebay actually.
I think I will go that route. I'm willing to make a small $40 gamble. And the sellers have super ratings.

I looked up batteryhippo, they have a grade of F from the Better Business Bureau.
