After 3 long months since my notebook first started having problems and 2 attempted repairs, HP has offered me a replacement notebook. The case manager only told me that the new notebook will be comparable to the old one and that some specs that will be better. Now, after reading some of the forums...was my case manager supposed to have asked me about what upgrades I'd like? I'm not sure how this process works, but should I call in again to request anything for the new notebook? Thanks for any advice!

Make sure you at least know what you are getting! Don't let them just toss something together and give it to you. If you already have the system it will be alot harder to get something changed if you don't like it.

They'll do pretty much exactly what he said. They'll build you a new laptop with equal specs if they have the same parts (doubtful) or they will use the part that is closest to the one you had, but only in the "better" direction.

Always check over your invoice to make sure that no mistakes are made.

I would suggest you call your case manager up and ask him to build it while your on the phone. SO you both can go line through line on the HP website. You do not want them to mess up and downgrade your replacement like they did with me.

All and all it looks like they do generally build some nice systems for people. Best of luck!

I agree with RealorKen, call them and have them go through all the specs of the new laptop they will be sending you. That way there will be no surprises when you get the laptop and if there is something they did wrong you'll catch it right away. In my opinion it would be a lot easier to handle any problems before the laptop is in production and sent out to you.
