I have a spare 2100 Series compaq laptop, that needs a keyboard replacement can i replace it myself or do i need to send it out? and would HP sell it to me?

I don't know that model myself but i think you could probably order it from HP but it will cost around a 100$ They might talk you through installing it too, but worst case they will charge for you advice because I'm sure its out of warrenty

they are still selling the model, where do i find the part #'s for the keyboards?

I just gave the HP site a look and I can't find how to buy it there. I've read other's recommend calling them to order parts like that and they will ship it to you. If you had a warrenty problem with your keyboard I know they would just talk you through the replacment instead of sending it in so it can't be to tough.

This is probably the keyboard P/N you need:
317443-001 36.00 Keyboard assembly - 88 keys (101-key compatible) with Windows key - Includes ribbon cable (United States)
Another way to make sure your P/N, is to pop the keyboard off and look at the underside. It'll have an SPS or Spare Part number, that's the P/N you need. HP may send it to you since you've already popped out the old one to get the P/N.
