By mistake, I happened to damage my CPU Heatsink when I was removing/cleaning the thermal paste. I was scouring the web for replacement parts when I came down to these two part numbers:

    434986-001
    450933-001

The former seems to rack up many more results in Google when compared to the latter. Moreover, when I pulled up the HP service guide for my dv6500, both numbers seem to correspond to my system - both for discrete graphics subsystem memory. However, one corresponds to "8.1 processors only" and the other corresponds to "7.9 processors only."

Can anyone help me decide which model is the appropriate one? Any help is warmly appreciated :)

The heatsink you broke should have had an HP replacement sticker # on it.

I had one on the copper bridge, but it was irrelevant.

I seem to be missing the one on the physical part of the fan itself. No luck :(

May I recommend that when you put the new heatsink in that your wear rubber gloves or something like unto it.

Man-grease has been known to reduce the effectiveness of the metal's cooling capabilities...ph34r the m4n-gr34$3!!!!
