Can anyone tell me if replacing a HD in the nc8430 voids the warranty? Incase I want to upgrade from a 5400 to a 7200 for example.

And the same thing for replacing the wifi card. Intel is going to sell it's kedron chip soon which is based on 802.11n, and it would be nice if I could replace my wifi card with that one in the future.

So long as the upgrades are done correctly, and no physical damage to other components takes place, then the warranty will not be viod after the upgrade. Other components like the processor, can void the warranty, when they are replaced/upgraded.

HP's warranty allows for hard drive and RAM upgrades, as well as keyboard/touchpad replacements (if they send you the keyboard/touchpad). I'm not too sure if that is everything though...there may be one or two additional things you can do.

But yes, CPU, AS5 applications...they void the warranty.

Any idea if I have to buy the HD or RAM for example from HP to upgrade?

Actually, before I bought my nc8430 I chatted with a tech online about precisely these things. I was given a very definite "yes" to RAM, Harddrive and CPU. That last one surprised me. Double-check with HP if you want.
