Hey guys my sisters hp dv-5t 1000 "M" key broke. Can you replace just 1 key, if so how would we go about finding a replacement key.

    Thanks!

If its the actual key you can replace it, if its the part that registers the keystroke I believe you'd have to replace the entire keyboard

You pretty much can't just buy a single key...you're looking at a whole keyboard to repair this one.

    Still pretty cheap though.

Single keys are sometimes sold on Ebay. Around $6-$7shipped for each last time I looked.

Whole keyboards run about $17-$30 which is a better deal since now you will have a bunch of spare keys. ;)

Use search term: "dv5 keyboard" on eBay to find both individual keys and keyboards.

Replacing the keyboard is easy. Just follow the instructions in the service manual. PDF version here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01550108.pdf
