Hello, due to an unfortunate accident I smashed my radiance LCD panel. I figured I had to quickly come to terms with the fact that I will not be able to get an exact replacement without forking over way more than the premium I already paid so I bought a Brightview panel on eBay.

I believe what I purchased is just the TFT LCD without the housing, is anyone familiar with the process of swapping out the LCD panel in the display housing in the Envy line?

    Thanks in advance.

If you need instructions, the service manual is linked on page 1, first post of the Envy 14 Owner's lounge.

Thanks for the link. I had a look at the display replacement section and I believe it's just instructions for replacing the entire screen assembly. Does anyone know anything about taking apart the assembly and swapping out just the panel?

It's almost impossible to do it.
You may look at MacBook pro manual which is from ifixit.com

I guesss u'd better to buy a new one

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02508020.pdf in this PDF from pages 88 on there is general instructions on how to take apart the display. An HP tech told me this is the best they can do as it is not a customer replaceable part.

By the instructions it wouldn't seem that the glass is stuck to the panel with an adhesive (like the MacBook). Rather hidden screws.

My LCD panel should arrive in a few days and I'll give it a shot. If anyone has any experience/ideas that would be great.

When I broke my screen, I took apart the broken one to see if the panel could be replaced. The surround around the screen just snaps in but is fixed firmly at the bottom by the hinges. That is where the challenge will lay. It seems you will likely have to remove something that will not go back together. The manual list those activities for recycling purposes when you are disposing of the LCD.
