Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you dv4t owners have run into the same issue trying to replace your hard drive... I opened the hard drive cover, removed the 3 screws holding the drive in place, and tried pulling up on the metal tab (the one facing the inside of the notebook) but couldn't get the drive free... I've been struggling to get the drive out for awhile now without any luck. Out of desperation I used a pair of pliers to try and get a better grip on the tab, but all I ended up doing was bending the outer casing (not the drive) slightly. It's like it glued in there or something!

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

I would like to know too... I'm going to be replacing the Dv4t HD with an SSD once I get it.

    Cheers,

I'm just replying back to say that I managed to remove the drive yesterday after trying again. My stock 250gb 5.4k Fujitsu mhz2250bh g2 has been replaced with a 320gb 7.2k Seagate ST9320421AS, and I couldn't be happier! :p

For anyone interested, apparently the drive cage is on a "track". The easiest way to remove it is probably to bend the metal tab at a 90 degree angle, then try to pull/slide the cage along the track towards the inside of the notebook (the only direction it can go). Then you can lift it out. If your notebook is like mine, it won't slide out easily, either, but keep at it and it should eventually come free. :D

do you notice any loss in battery life going from 5400rpm to 7200rpm? also i have the fujitsu drive myself too and it generates a lot of heat. how is the heat on the new seagate drive? do you notice any vibration on the palmrest when the drive is running? thanks for answering
