    Hello;

    last summer I was given a HP Pavillion dv5 that had a little problem with his screen:

    The part number of the piece is 484363-001, and it seems it has to be WXGA because of the resolution (1280x800). Is there any problem if it's WSXGA instead?

    Has anybody performed this? Can it be done at home?

    Thank you very much for your time. I'd really appreciate any advice.

    The dv5 was offered with a WSXGA+. If you can find a compatible screen I seen no reason it would fail to work, but I'm not super up on HP part numbers

    It's much cheaper on eBay if you don't mind that's it's probably not a HP Part, but compatible.

    Thanks a lot to everyone for your help. I don't mind if it's not a HP part, I just want it to work.

    I've found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390110516800&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123

    I still have the doubt if I have to stick to WXGA or can use WSXGA (which seems to be more available). It seems the laptop's resolution when not connected to an external monitor is 1280x800 but it can work at 1680x1050 connected.

    Thanks again to all for your kind help.

    Did you change the screen to WSXGA? Or you just replace with another WXGA?
