    Resetting cmos on a dv8230us

    Is there any way to do this short of taking the whole laptop apart to pull the cmos battery?

    You dont need to completely disassemble the system to access the cmos battery. According to the service manual (linked below) the cmos battery is located underneath the mini pci card slot right next to the memory modules....

    I just sold this exact laptop on ebay. Its simple. Take off the ram cover on the bottom ( 2 screws ) then take out 2 screws on the mini pci-e wireless card ( 2 screws ). After that take a screw driver or somthing and push the werid little battery clip down so the battery can come out. Remove the charger and main battery and hold the power button down for 30 seconds and its reset.
