I recently bought an HP Pavilion dv2700. Everything is great except for the 1280x800 resolution.

I have seen that there are programs out there that allow you to force a custom resolution but I can't seem to get them to work.

This might be a little confusing, but here goes...

I have two computers, a desktop, and the HP laptop.

When I set the desktop to a higher resolution than 1280x800 and use remote desktop on the laptop to connect to the desktop, it displays the remote computer in the higher resolution and everything looks great, things are smaller, and I have a much larger desktop to work with.

Is there any way possible to make my laptop display a better resolution? I feel like it should be, since it does so through remote desktop.

    Thanks in advance!

The laptop's resolution is limited to what the screen has...1280x800 and that cannot be increased.

Remote desktop connections can be whatever resolution you want, which is why the desktop's connection to the laptop can be higher than 1280x800.

Hey thanks for the reply, this is what confuses me, if I can display the higher res through remote desktop, isn't that some way, maybe a program, that I can view my laptop in that same resolution? It seems to me that the capability must be there if it can display the remote connection in higher res. You input is greatly appreciated, this has been bugging the hell out of me.
