    Hi,

I bought an HP Pavilion dv2000 back in September and not too long after I was playing music on the notebook and during some parts of the songs I would hear this high pitch vibration sound coming from my right speaker so I thought maybe it was the song and/or player so I tried a different song and player and it was still happening. So I tried changing the audio settings..still the same...then I tried system recovery..still the same. Eventually I started looking at the metal speaker grid that protects the speakers and noticed on the far right there was a a very small "pop" in the metal grid that wasnt sealed as the rest. So I held it down with my finger while playing a few songs and the noise stopped. So I figured out the problem and sent it to HP for repair. They sent it back claiming it was a software problem and they reformatted my notebook to the original factory settings. I knew then that they must have not fixed the problem but with hopes I turned it out and tried it out anyway...still doing the same thing. So at this point I figured im not going to keep something defective I paid a ton of money for and sent it back again. I just got it back the other day and it still not fixed. My question is what should I do from here? I've sent it twice with no avail and Id hate to settle for keeping it when I just bought it but cant take it back to the department store cause it's not covered anymore. If anyone has any suggestions or how HP deals with returns, I would greatly appreciate the input.

    Thanks,
    Josh

Next time invest in a membership at Costco and get your laptop their. Forget these anal retentive return policies of all the major retailers. You can return your laptop for up to 6 months after your purchase no questions asked. You still want to say the laptop is defective so that Costco doesn't take a loss and change their policy.

Well, I would suggest calling the CC company that you used to purchase the notebook and dispute the charges. They can probably help, but you'll need any paperwork showing that HP isn't fixing the problem.

Also, consider filing a BBB complaint. You never know...
