Hi guys!
I have a dv9000 series and the the ribbon cable that goes from the power button to it's respective conector on the motherboard is a bit damaged one of the metal contacts at one end has "skinned" off.
What would you do, look for a replacement online, i doubt a shop would stoc such a thing, of do these cables tend to be standard, the model number of the cable is E118077.
Also you should be able to completely remove a motherboard, including detaching it from the screen and still power the fan on, obvioulsy with the battery connected?
It's this cable, http://www.wdpi.com/products/HP/NEW/E118077.html
could you somewow slice the end off and then cut a small section so you have some new contacts showing?

Its available on ebay. Take a look. Got one for my laptop a while back.

Thanks is there any way to "jump start" the laptop like you can by touching 2 jumpers on a desktop with say a screwdriver, i have the laptop disembled?

I ripped mine while taking the laptop apart. Had to get one on eBay for $20.
