I know the DV9000t has a Ricoh reader in it but does anyone know what model it has? Im looking into getting a 2gig SD card for readyboost and want to see if its compatible. The one I was looking at getting is Transcend 2GB Secure Digital (SD) Flash Card Model TS2GSD150. Also, I am correct in the fact it will use SD for readyboost and not just a thumbdrive?

So no one know if the Transcend cards are compatible in our card readers? I dont want to mess up and buy something wrong and be out 50 bucks

The Transcend card will be compatible with the Ricoh card reader. The only question is whether or not the SD card is fast enough for ReadyBoost -- and I don't know of any way to no for sure without trying. My guess is that you'll be fine.

How fast are normal USB drives? On top of that what is considered a good speed for the card or drive to be? I was thinking SD card simply because it wouldnt be sticking out anywhere and it would be hidden. I think the SD cards speed is read 22.5 mb/s and write 2.81 mb/s

In general, USB drives are faster, but I also use an SD card in my notebook since it can sit pretty much inside the notebook. It's just more convenient. The SD card you're looking at is probably fast enough, though it will report as too slow until you do a manual recheck.

The speeds I gave you were off a specs sheet I found on the web. I mean technically I could add my USB hub that I have in my laptop bag and put it behind the machine if its really that much of a difference. Do you recommend giong with SD or USB.

Honestly, you're not going to notice much difference on your system either way (you had 2 GB RAM, right?). If speed is the most important thing, then go USB. If you use your notebook on the go much, then I find SD card much more convenient.

If I go with the SD card then I planned on getting the 4gig one since it was double what I have for system ram. But I read you said somewhere else its hit and miss on the cards. If thats the case its hard to choose it out of fear of wasting 45 bucks on it lol. I know when I game I use 1.75g of ram. Least the one time I checked while playing it showed usage of that much.

Yeah I have read that QnA before. I just read a review post of the 4meg SD card I was thinking of getting and it said it works with readyboost. Im assuming if it worked in that guys reader it should work in mine too. **** if Im wrong thoguh Ill puke as its 45 bucks for the card. Being military with 4.5 kids I dont have money to waste lol
