I don't think model number is make a difference but I have the HP Pavillion dv6000z.

Recently, I have a problem when right-clicking files anywhere on my notebook and when I press the Delete button. Normally, I don't have any lag when trying to delete files or trying to right click even on my desktop to access the properties. However, recently I have to wait almost about 15 seconds before I'm able to access the right-click menu on anything.

I've check my spyware and anti-virus with Spybot and Symantec Endpoint protection respectively. I've even checked with Windows Defender and all say that everything is fine. I've done a Disk Defragment and Disk Cleanup and still the problem persists. I don't have many applications running in the background and I've at wit's end. What else am I still missing?

    Thanks.

It's not about apps running in the background, it's about the items you have in that right-click menu. Please take a screenshot of the menu so we can see what you can remove from it.

Ok it now works. I don't see anything suspicious though. Is there high HDD activity when you press the right click?

A little bit. I just checked and it my graph on the task manager will jump to about 40%-ish. Still whenever I do right click on a file, it is a long period of time when I can't do anything else even switching windows or opening the Start menu.

I had thought the solution found through google would work.

    http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic50251.html

But I can't get past step 2 since I only see one file inside the folder

EDIT: I don't remember seeing an option to print or edit Office documents before directly from right-click. Might this have something to do with it since the notebook has to see which files they are then load a different menu for each?

EDIT 2: It's not the context menus I believe. Even if I press Delete or use Cut or Paste shortcuts from the taskbar, it still lags a lot. Is something else behind all this? One thread someone else mentioned on another site that an nVidia graphics problem was a possible solution but I can't find drivers on the main site to match since the 6 series says it's incompatible. I have the NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150
