I just picked up my DV9500T without the TV Tuner option. On the main page for the DV9500t, they state the system comes with two speaker ports, one of which also is an S/PDIF port. On my DV9000t, which did come with the TV Tuner, there are two ports, one of which is clearly an S/PDIF port (it's stenciled onto the case) and I use it frequently, so I know it works.

On my new system, there are no "S/PDIF" letters on the case, and by looking into the speaker ports, I can see there is no S/PDIF connection, simply two analog speaker ports.

So, my question is: should my DV9500t have the S/PDIF port? Or, does it only come with the "TV Tuner" option? I never saw that in the options page, and it shows that all DV9500t's have the port, yet mine doesn't. And I *need* it...

    Rgds,

I'm not certain but I think one of them doubles as an electrical (not optical) s/pdif port. I have this setup on my dv6000t but I've not tried to use it yet.

I don't think it will come extra with the TV tuner option, as all that option does is include the TV tuner card and remote, etc... They don't modify the notebook internally.

I would guess that, if you really need it, you are probably in the best situation to test it out. You have 21 days to return it if you need to.

Maybe that's the difference. On my DV9000t, the port was an OPTICAL s/pdif port. Hence, I was trying out the DV9500t with my mini-toslink cable to std toslink receiver port, which is what I use on the DV9000t. What I think I might need would be an RCA->mini 1/8" cable.

    Thanks for the feedback.
