I can not display on TV. I have updated driver from Compaq to Catalyst control center, still no S-video out.
Fn+4 causes LCD to blacken for a second, but it comes back & no TV. I have been in online chat twice, no help. I don't want to extend desktop, but I need to make presentation on TV.
Any suggestions or help is appreciated.

Are you choosing the option to "Force my TV if it is not detected"??

Thats what I have to do on my desktop with an ATI card to get S-video to clone with my TV.

on the catalyst control center, go to Display Options.

Very bottom says force tv detection. Check the box, then drag the TV to the area to get it going. Then right click it and clone it or whatever you're doing. Hope this helps.

The catalyst control center is in "Advanced" view on mine, So switch to advanced view to follow those instructions easier.

well u kno one thing that might help would be posting your notebook model. ;)

second usually you would have to right click on your desktop and if you have nvidia then you would click that and there is an option somewhere there on what display you want it on, notebook,tv or dual or even clone display

Yes, it sort of works the same way. The notebook model will not do us any good. All we need to know is that he has S-video and what type of card he has. He supplied both, and I supplied him the answer that will guarantee it to work. (unless of course he is not dragging the TV icon into the second monitor space)

Thanks for the quick replies. Please forgive me for not giving more revelant information. Yeah, I tried "force TV" early on.
I found the online chat with HP help desk people to be quite helpful in getting the right driver & learning to navigate Catalyst software.
I was back online with them after I posted here (hoping for a magic fix) but we ran out of the trouble shooting steps. It is their opinion that the s-video port is faulty, probably meaning the replacement of the mother board. Since everything else seems to be working on this "bought from e-bay for $4oo" notebook, I am thinking I will go back to hand-outs for my presentation & learn to live with a crippled computer.
Thanks again for your quick responses.

Just to update the forum on this issue. I downloaded a service manual PDF & located the display card. I found one online, purchased it and installed it.
Something is different. I now have many more options showing in my Catalyst Console. It apparently detects the #2 display & I can enable, set resolutions, set clone, stretch, etc. Alas, after trying 2 TVs, 3 different cables & a projector I still have no video display.
    Oh well.

It might take a while some times for the computer to detect the TV, the other day I used the S-Video to my friend's TV and it took me a few min before I was able to get video out put. I seleted the option "Force Television detection on Startup". After that I restarted my computer and it worked after I went to the Display properties.
