When I use my s-video out of my nx8220 there is a vertical line which scrolls from left to right.
However if I use composite out, I don't get it.
Any thoughts?
This is just a plan 4:3 CRT TV.

your s video jack on the tv could be bad. If you a dvd player with s video do you have same line? if you have line with dvd player then tv s video is bad. If you do not have line with dvd player, your s video jack on your laptop could be bad.
Also, try a NEW s-video wire. they are fragile.

Nope, dvd player plays via s-video fine.
This is a brand new svideo cable.
I need to try it at a friends I think, otherwise I'll just get it done under warranty. -
yes it sounds like it could be the s video jack on your computer.

If you can output a good S-video signal to your DVD player, then the cable and your s-video jack on the laptop must be fine. If you only have a problem outputting it to the TV, then It must be the S-video jack on your TV.

I was looking for a S-Video for my laptop, is it a male to male S video cable like this one- ( http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-6-S-Video-S...yZ15066QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)?

S Video Ports on hps/compaq seem to be junk to me. I have tried them on my laptop, all I can get is black and white, and not so clear (clear enough to read words barley on a 60 inch hd sony though). Reading words on a regular crt tv is impossible. I have tried laptops from work as well and they do the same thing. My ntsc/pal settings are all right, I even tried switching them to see if that would do anything, it didnt. I'm guessing that something is wrong with it, however I have tried numerous computers and they all do the same thing. The only computer that works is my 3 year old pent 4ht gateway with a geforce card. My notebook has a AMD card. Anyone have any suggestions or is it toast. I would send it in for warranty but I dont really care and I use my laptop everyday so that wouldnt work. Thanks for your help.
S-video out has lines going across the TV
