Hi Guys,
Need some help urgently. I have been scouting around Mumbai for a cable to connect my dv6516TX (config in my signature) to my old Panasonic 21" TV (has only composite video in). So I am looking for a S-video to Composite cable. I have tried two or three cables from the market but none of them seem to work. I even tried talking to the HP support guys out herebut I belive they are dumbos (the guy didnt even know what a composite connection was!!!!)
I finally decided to build one myself. I tried looking for a 7 pin DIN connector but it will be available only next week. Meanwhile I got hold of a 4 pin DIN and tried the circuit as shown in some internet sites
http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/svideo2cvideo.html
to get composite video using a 470pf capacitor. The cable works on my DVD player but not on my laptop. Tried all possible options in vista but not working.
This is the connector pin assignments for my s-video out. (got it from my hp manual)

I believe HP has cleverly interchanged pins 6 & 7 (intensity ground and composite ground) that is why the cable i built is not working.
Any suggestions or circuit details are most welcome.

Hi,
I solved the problem. Pretty silly but I was using thicker twisted pair wires to connect the pins. I just used thinner single wires to connect and it works beautifully.
My resolution is 720 x 576 and text doesnt seem that sharp. But games and video are working fine.
Any suggestions for making text sharper? -
try changing the resolution from nVidia control panel
