Hi, I want to upgrade my HDD to a SSD and I have a question about the SATA number.

I have a HP envy 17 1190ea and I want to put a SATA 3 SSD in it. Will it be able to support that drive?

    Thanks in advance

It will be able to support the drive, but not at SATA3 speeds. Only the second and third gen Envy's have SATA3 support. Your first gen Envy will run that SSD at SATA2 speeds (though you may see some slight improvement due to the better micro controller on the newer SATA3 SSD's).
