I'm pretty baffled by this one. HP G60t, using the built-in DVD drive, I insert my XP CD and then it will ask me if I want to boot from the disc as expected. At this point, I normally expect the blue screen with the drivers being loaded from the disc but the screen stays black, the DVD drive keeps reading until the system BSODs.

What makes this different from my standard OS installs is that I'm trying to put XP Chinese Edition on this machine for my grandparents to use. The reason I'm trying to do that is because I can't get the computer to log onto their DSL network which isn't 24/7 but requires username and PW login each time. But I digress, I've thought about whether or not the XP CD is region encoded, tried to change the boot order unsuccessfully to use an external DVD drive. Is there a hard lock on these machines that prevents foreign OS's from being installed?
