    hello,
I've seen slot for SIM card hidden by battery - are there any upgrades to use simcard in 8510p? Can this be installed as aftermarket upgrade?

    Thx for any ideas! :)

Remove keyboard, do you have a free mini-pcie slot there? If you have, you can install the HP 3G modem card. Then you need to put couple antennas in, but that's easy and you can use old wlan antennas from somewhere.

In addition, you might need a sim card reader in that slot, unless it already has one.

Not really. Antennas are same as wlan-antennas, no big deal.

What I'm more worried is the sim-reader, if it doesn't exist you might get one from HP directly. Quite simple, one cable from the reader to the motherboard <- second tricky one, does the motherboard have the cable plug? I would think it has, if it has the mini-pcie slot in the first place.

For my mini 5101 the sim-reader cost 16 euros (incl. 22% vat and postage) and it attaches with double-sided tape next to the sim slot.

My 8510w is missing all those, so it's no internal 3G for me :(
