    Hey everyone,

I was directed to an HP laptop from the "What notebook should I buy forum"--specifically the SR version of the HP nc8430, and I'd like to get some opinions and advice.

Ideally, I'm looking for a 15.4" widescreen, highly stylish, durable laptop loaded with features geared towards a business laptop that still has a decent GPU (in particular, the 8600M GT at least), so if any other HP laptops fit that description, I'm highly interested as well!

So, well my first question is, what exactly is the SR refresh of that line called and is it out yet?

I checked out the review here, and it was highly complimentary. Does anyone have any other opinions about that line of laptops? In particular, although the specs speak for themselves, I'm also interested in build quality, and HP itself as a company (quality of service, materials used, warranties, or anything particular amazing or annoying about the nc__ line of products etc.)

I'm also interested in finding out how easy it is to customize or upgrade HP laptops and replace the HD, or RAM, or other stuff if necessary.

    Thanks in advance!

Personally I think the hp business line of notebooks is one of the best built machines. They are very reliable and they look nice too. I'd say if you are going to get one notebook to carry you thru 3 years, definitely look at hp/ibm business lines. If you are going to replace your laptop every 1-1.5 years, than the consumer lines should be fine.

Business laptops are usually more robust than regular laptops but then again you have to pay a higher price.

Thanks for the responses, but I definitely need a business-line notebook. What I'm looking for is a 15.4" business notebook, with intel turbo memory preferably, but which will also have the 8600M GT (or even 8700M GT, but that's not going to happen before summer's over i assume).

I'm also browsing HP's site and some of the forums here, and HP has a ton of models of all sorts--just exactly what will the top-of-the-line SR 15.4" business laptop be called and when will it be coming out?

And lastly, I'd like to know how customizable individual components in HP business laptops are to upgrade--such as the RAM and HDD, since I most likely will want to change those.

    Thanks.

hmm well the pavilions seem to have nvidia cards but the business line HPs Ive seen have ATI cards. if not i would gather they would come with nvidia quadro cards.

might be cheaper to change ram and hdd yourself. RAM especially would be cheaper.

Oh I have nothing against ATI cards. I won't mind a decent HD 2600 card at all.
