I have googled this but cannot find any answers. When I build a dv6 it won't allow me to have more than 8gb of ram if you choose the 160gb Solid State Drive Flash Module. Anyone know why?

Probably these laptops with SSDs are built with another motherboard which supports 8gb ram only.
