So, I purchased and received my HP Envy 17 3k this week (actually, just got it today!) I'm in love with the machine. But, when I bought it, I purchased a ssd (64 gig intel 520) along with it. So, I think I'm overlooking something small... I've used windows forever, but I haven't ever really had to use recovery discs and whatnot.. I don't want to just "copy" over my OS onto the SSD, but if it's the only way, I guess I will.... Other then that way, how would I go about putting Win7 onto my new SSD? (and have my standard 750 gig be the secondary drive) I've made a recovery and backup disc... But like I said, I feel like I'm overlooking something very small...

If you wanted a fresh install you'd need an OEM 7 disk.

Or couldn't he download it and burn a legit copy of Windows 7 to a CD/DVD or USB thumb drive?

There are links all over this website with instructions. The links are official links to Microsoft's website.

Okay, at least that tells me I can't get where I'm wanting to go with the recovery and backup disc.. And I don't feel like doing a big OS download (Slow internet), so, could someone point me in the direction of a good OS copy guide?

Here is where you can download a legal ISO of Win 7

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-digitalriver-windows-7-sp1-13-languages.html

Here is where you can download the latest drivers for your machine

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...ivers-hp-envy-15-3xxx-envy-17-3xxx-intel.html

And then before you do a clean install you will want to make sure that you backup your "SWSetup" which will have a few programs that you will need for installing on a Clean Install since they aren't available to download from HP website.
