I have a question how I would secure erase my SSD. I have the HP 256GB option its a Micron Crucial realssd 2.5 mtfdbak256mag-1g1. I've read that it's bad just to reformat the drive and thats what I did when I did a clean install of windows 7. I'm debating on doing a secure erase and reinstalling everything so I can maybe get better performance. I don't know any technical stuff regarding these matters so maybe an idiotproof explanation of what to download and how to run it would be useful.

    Thanks

Here you go You will need to create a bootable DOS diskette and the 3.3 version works with SSD's.

Yea I found sites like that I just wasn't sure if it was intel specific only. I didn't want to have any incompatibility and end up corrupting something. So I guess it looks like its just a standard program that can be used with all SSD's.

    Thanks.

I cant' figure out how to disable sata. I think the only way to do this is to put the ssd in an external enclosure and then secure erase it. this is so complicated.
