See Ya Later Pavilion!
After looking online for specs over the past many months the DV6 has been one of my top contenders for a new laptop. (or an Envy 14 if they ever refresh)
ASUS has been my favorite brand since I have had really good experiences with my current desktop and my wife's laptop (both Asus) but the one reason I was thinking of going with HP is their customization options where ASUS doesn't really have any. (you can get a 3rd party to customize but at that point you are shelling some serious cash)
Well I went to best buy the other day and checked out the DV6 beats edition they had on display. It just didn't feel right to me (cheap) and this one Asus model really stood out from the crowd as being sleek and comfortable. The Asus G73 series. The only thing is I would prefer a 15" over a 17" inch so I think I will wait for the Asus G53 series to get refreshed.
ASUS G73JH Review
This laptop has the 1080p display and backlit keyboard that everyone wishes the pavilions had.
Just thought I would share my change of heart with y'all.
Don't mind the spelling error in the title, I can't change it.

I was seriously considering an Asus G73-JH, G73-JW and G73-SW before I ordered the DV7 quad.
Don't forget that the G73-JH does not offer the new Sandy bridge chipset.
Also, check out the forums regarding the keyboard issues, and other nagging problems.
Every laptop is going to have its share of issues though.
I was disappointed when Asus on Xotic PC offered the onsite warranty option rather than just mail in, and they got rid of it a week later.
There have been plenty of horror stories regarding the mail in warranty process with computer companies. -
Well the ones I was looking at were the SW so they had Sandy Bridge.
I would wait for the Sandy Bridge refresh of the G53 though.
