I just thinking into install the latest drivers provided by laptopvideo2go for my Geforce 9600M GT card, i got an hp dv7 series with windows vista 64bits, 4 GB RAM, and CPU intel p7350 dual core.

I just tired of wait from hp support site, to get the latest drivers from them. I heard that there are great improvements installing new drivers but i'm afraid that could mess up my system installing from an unauthorized site...

Did you installed it and had problems?

Yeah its safe, try them. You could always revert back to the original drivers if you dont like them.

Don't do it! Your laptop will explode!

j/k If you want the best performance, the 180 drivers are a must (at least they did wonders for my 9200m, especially dox's).

on laptopvideo2go it says something on the forums about having to use a modified inf that is available there in order to make this update work? Or will it work without the modified one? (the release from 12/11)

In most cases, you will have to use a modified INF in conjunction with the drivers. This is because most of the original INFs contain product entries that are particular to the specific OEM that released it. Also, currently known desktop drivers (the 180 series as an example) don't have laptop graphics cards included in the INF, which is why the INF is provided. The INF adds product entries that will make your laptop graphics card compatible with the driver.

As for Dox's 180.84 release, the modified INF should already be included so you won't have to dig around for it.
BTW, I am also available at LaptopVideo2Go if you also have inquiries to post there!

hmm.. you should remove the old before installing the new. it worked for me just fine.

there was a problem with the newest drivers for a bit, i don't know if they've resolved the issue yet, but you couldn't use the modified inf file with the driver version they wanted you to download. you had to use the beta drivers from the nvidia site, and it worked then. you would get a message stating that there were no hardware changes made, even though it looked like they were installing correctly.

If you want to squeeze out performance, then you should be prepared to take risks..
