Will the wireless enable/disable button still work to disable bluetooth and the wireless adapter or do you need the wireless assistant for the button to work?

    On my 2530p...
I cannot find a way to disable my bluetooth or WAN without the wireless assistant. I suppose I could do it through the device manager, but that is too much work.

So I kept it... It appears to be a reliable little tool so far

Wireless assistant is just another piece of unnecessary bloat in my opinion. I'm not using it and don't see the need for it. The built in wireless software in vista is all I need and the wireless button works with or without the wireless assistant.

But using the Wireless Assistant you can actually turn of bluetooth...while the wifi is running...so i think its useful especially if you want the bluetooth to be turned off.

I did clean install vista and only two HP apps that I installed are Digital Persona Fingerprint and Wireless assistant. wireless assitant allow me to turn on/off wifi and bluetooth independently and conveniently.

I dont' even install Quick Launch and Quick Touch.

It may be faster with the wireless assistant but I find the control panel bluetooth options are fine for turning off bluetooth and still maintaining wireless. If you go into control panel - bluetooth devices - bluetooth settings, you can configure bluetooth discovery connectivity etc. If you want to turn it off you can continue - hardware - click HP integrated module with 2.0 - properties - driver - disable. Simply go back and enable to turn it back on.

Of course their is also the shorter way of device manager - bluetooth radio - disable HP integrated module.

might be a tad longer than wireless assistant but I prefer these methods over having a whole seperate program for it.
