Will Vista run ok on only 1 gb of ram for me. Need honest opionions. I really have no use for the 2 512 ram if I need too spend extra $200 for 2 gb of ram too replace...

I like the 12 cell battery, the graphics card will be ok, not big on gaming. want a web cam so this is good option for me, seems like a good processor, unless you guys have other opionions...

Thanks in advance on opionions...Will take all opionions

is it possible to get an intel core duo or core2duo as these are much faster. Vista should run fine on 1gb of ram

I have the slightly higher end version of that computer. vista should be fine with 1 gig, but 2 gigs would be ideal.

While some may complain about the AMD processors because they are not as speedy as their intel counterparts, this really is irrelevant when it comes down to everyday use. For what you need the computer for, this seems like a fine system.

Just a month ago the DV6233SE TL-50 with 120GB and 6-cell bat was $899 regular in BestBuy and luckily I got it on president's day 2-day sale for $699 instead. At the time it was even $599 in some outlets, depending on your location. ( http://bensbargains.net/deal/20857/)
The general approach with all the retailers is that the real market price is only reflected when they go on special sale...
PS. I too, had to get rid of the 2x512MB and buy 2X1GB which I got from newegg.
edit: similar machine with Intel C2D and same price here: http://www.officemax.com/max/soluti...odBlockOID=1611550908&expansionOID=-536879891

If you do decide that you need more RAM, buy two of these. I'm getting by with 1GB but Vista would be much snappier with 2GB. WinXP was fine with 1GB. Other than that it looks like a nice deal.

There's a small difference between the X2 and the C2D and a huge difference between the GeForce 6150 and the Intel GMA series GPUs. Plus the AMD CPUs are cheaper. Most of the time I recommend the AMD platform notebooks.

Seems like a nice system - price isn't particularly attractive, in my opinion. I got a very similar system in October at Best Buy for $899. I have the slightly slower processor (TL-50) but 17" screen (which I love) instead of 15", and 120 GB drive instead of 160 (can't imagine what I'd do with 160, especially once I get rid of the XP partition - am currently dual-booting).

In any case, the machine runs Vista very well, even with my slower processor. The 6150 seems like a fine option, especially if you're not a gamer (I am not). I did add a second GB of RAM last week ($149 shipped from newegg), and that improved the overall performance - especially on boot and resume from sleep - considerably. (To that end, if anyone wants to buy my now redundant 2x512MB sticks of RAM, send me a PM!)

    Brgds

    Evan

Ok, I have been kicking this idea around for couple days now. I am comparing this notebook too others with all the specs. I think it is pretty good with the idea of not gaming on it, and the 12 cell battery, web cam, amd 64x 2 processor of 5600 higher end my understanding 1 gb ram.

My only question I am in doubt is, all this driver down loading and the web cam not working on alot of HP notebooks.... Am I just worrying too much or what. I just want too plug computer in and use it....

Help me out here guys...If I buy, I want too get today...

    Thanks...
