I'm going to buy a new hp dv5 series notebook and found THIS configuration on HP's official website for £899

I then looked over at argos's website and found THS notebook for £799. The specifications seem identical, yet the price is £100 cheaper and it has a different model number. The only difference I can see is that the one on the Argos website has 3 usb ports, opposed to 4 as the one on the HP website does.

Can anyone see any other differences?

ohh i see, both screens have a resolution of 1280 x 800, so I don't mind having a standard display. Also i am not likely to use an eSATA port, so it looks like i'll go with the Argos config.

can anyone see any more differences? can both laptops only READ blu-ray, im not to clear about what Blu Ray ROM means (listed on the hp configuration)

Bluray ROM just means read only. :)

Blu Ray ROM means it reads, but not writes, Blu Ray discs but, as far as I know the optical drives will read and write CD and DVD. It's the modern version of the old combo drive which would read and write CD but the DVD was read only.

If you would like something less expensive then look here, but it doesn't have Blu Ray.

ok, being able to blu-ray sounds good enough.

And John, i'll stick with the dv5 mainly due to it's nvidia 9600m gt graphics card ;)
