I took serious advantage of this site to get my XPS up and going strong so I'm deeply hoping I can make the same progress with a friends dv6409us.
This machine came with Vista, was down/upgraded to XP with everything working, except they had made no notes or backups of the drivers that were installed. Now I'm trying to reinstall XP, due to "user issues", and I'm having problems locating drivers. My first goal is to find the Intel SATA driver(s).

I had searched google for awhile and came up with many results, all of which don't exist now. A few links I came across had direct downloads from Intel, but the drivers were removed. I also came across forums that disabled the SATA in bios and use the drivers from HP.com, but HP only has a very very few to choose from for XP.

I tried using the iso cd I used for my Dell, thinking an Intel driver is universal, but XP was unable to detect a HDD.

OK so here goes. I was wondering if anyone has ANY current "how-to's", links, drivers, ideas on where to locate these drivers.

I would like to create another iso XP cd that has said drivers already installed to avoid any future complications.

I currently have SATA disabled in BIOS and am working on installing XP SP3 to see what new driver updates Microsoft came out with, but any additional help with driver locations would be great.

    Thank you

    Another question I have,
Is there not a way to access the recovery partition to just reinstall Vista? I know its there, i just can't seem to get to it
