Hi I am thinking of getting a crucial m4 ssd and read somewhere that my envy 14 1195ea was sata11 and would not benefit using this ssd as it is using a sata 111 interface. Is this correct? If so can anyone suggest a suitable ssd for me to get.....thanks minty.

Any computer will benefit from an SSD upgrade.

If your computer supports Sata III (6gb/s) then power to you.
    Sata II is (3gb/s).

I doubt the difference is noticeable under normal circumstances but Sata III is the newest and greatest Sata interface.

I'm sure the professional SSD aficionados here can suggest you other good SSDs.

The Crucial M4 has great reviews.

Mostly for SSD's just look for a good warranty and sandforce controller, intel ones do not have a sandforce controller but are good (they make their own iirc)

You will still heavily benefit from a ssd, but a sata 2 port will only run around 275MB/s where as sata 3 is double that.

You probably wont notice it too much, but my ssd is a sata 2 one so I'm not sure.
