I just finished speaking with someone in technical support. The phone call was initially answered by a pleasant woman from Bangalore. I was rerouted to someone in the states in a reasonable amount of time (a lot better than support from say, PALMONE where I paid for extended service AND technical support. To cover the PDA screen).

Very helpful, courteous, knowledgeable and patient. Helped resolve issues quickly and painlessly. I highly recommend this company for this kind of service.

If I can buy it in titanium, I will (my bike, my watch, etc. etc.) Why? I hate corrosion....

    Hey Titanium,

I heartily agree. I just sent out my laptop this week to HP's service center in California, and they turned it around inside of a day - the same day they received it, they repaired it and shipped it back out to me.

Best of all, I have my machine back, good as new.

Impressed? Yes, I must say, I really am.

I've had previous experience with IBM's laptop service unit (IBM Serve), and they were never this quick, not even for executive machines.

I give ultimate credit to HP this time around, no question.

Try looking it up in www.hp.com, Yaar!

Their telephone is out of Bangalore, India.

Absolutely right, as I understand it all first-line (level 1) support is located in Bangalore. The level 2 folks are primarily available domestically, which isn't too bad.

I've actually found that the first line folks are fairly knowledgeable with troubleshooting and diagnostics. Besides, they have the worst job of all, if you ask me, and they demonstrated both patience and willingness to listen to my issues, and even offered thoughtful advice.

    Just my 2 cents. . .
