    Hi Everyone,

I have a HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 with the 1080p Anti glare display. I have noticed that the backlight or screen flickers when I switch between browser tabs or programs.

May I know the reason behind this? This is the first time Im encountering this on a laptop.

    Thank you,

Might want to look into the refresh rate on your Intel HD Graphics settings. It should be in the taskbar -- Right click on it, select Graphics Properties, and make sure Refresh Rate is at 60Hz

Thank you for your reply. I checked the refresh rate. Its 60 Hz.

The backlight or screen flickers between different levels of brightness when I switch between browser tabs or programs.

Hmm… this a tough one. Just a few thoughts:

-- Change your power option (i.e. power saver, balanced, high performance) reboot and test.

-- Return your video driver settings to their defaults and/or look for an updated video driver.

-- Does this behavior occur on both external and battery power?

-- Is there a BIOS update available for your specific unit? If so, update.

-- Make a Linux based boot CD like Knoppix and see if you get the same behavior.

-- If you have a spare Hard Drive, install it and try a basic fresh windows install with current drivers and IE10 and see what happens. Time consuming I know, but if that worked you would at least know it was an OS issue and not hardware. You could then reinstall your original drive, backup your data, and do a recovery from the original disk.

At-any-rate, odd issue indeed. Perhaps others will pipe-in with better ideas.

    Best, Dave
