I recently got a Presario and was wondering if there was a way to keep the screen brightness as high unplugged as when it's plugged in.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Hello and welcome.

If you go to the BIOS, you can change it from there. Or combnation keys. I dont know about HP/Compaq...but my guess is FN + up arrow.

Thanks for the answer JC but I am fairly new to computers...how do I change it in the bios? The FN key + up arrow didn't bring it up.

The HP's are different. You adjust the brightness with the fn + f8 key (brighter) or the fn + f7 key (dimmer), but there's no way to make the screen as bright while on battery as it is maxed on AC power.

Thanks for the info...When I max brightness when it's unplugged is barely different as when plugged in. I guess it just was default set to drop brightness a bit to save the battery.

    Thanks again for the help.

No problem -- yeah, the difference shouldn't be that great.
