I have a very small smudge on my screen for my DV6000t. The problem is that it always catches my eye. Do you think it is safe if I use a damp cloth to try and gently wipe it off? Thanks.

Should be safe. Just make sure you use something clean with no grit in it. I'd try it without being damp first, then dampen it with water if you need to. You could then buff it dry with another clean/dry cloth.

Avoid paper towels, as they contain glue. Also, my laptop came with a cloth that I assume is for this purpose. If you have one, use that.

You can sometimes find LCD cleaner at some computer stores. You can't go wrong with water though. just no ammonia or harsh glass cleaners, can't tell you how many calls I have heard about someone using windex on their screens...

I have like hundreds of small smudges, dots, dirts on my screen, and I'm ok with them. We live in perfect harmony.

Try dampening a soft old t-shirt and rub very lightly - then carefully wipe with a dry portion of the shirt.

I've read that lots of folks prefer lens cleaning cloths and fiber cloths designed specifically for lcd screens. Old t-shirts are cheaper. :D

A slightly damp cloth w/ water and a dry micro-fiber cloth to dry is fine. Lightly wipe dry. Micro-fiber cloth is also good for dust removal. Remember if you do wash the micro-fiber cloth don't use fabric softener.

It is safe. If you can get a micro fiber cloth like what you use to clean glasses it will be much better

I use a microfiber cloth and Staples branded (as in the office store) LCD cleaning solution. Works great (basically water and a dilute soapy mix) and it was only a few dollars.

In an update I did use a simple cloth to clean it off. I made it damp and gently wiped it off. I then dried it with a soft cloth to clean glass surfaces. It got it off for the most part. There is still a little there but I can barely notice it now.
