Hello first i would like to thank you for taking the time to read this^^

    Ok on to the problem:

My laptop is a Compaq Presario V5000 and I have had it for one and a half to two years now. Recently, about a month ago, the screen display has been acting up. Im going to try and explain the problem as best as I can
The screen display will either fade out and the screen will be frozen in
place but still running normaly. Sound still works when this happens
and I can even use the computer still(just the screen is frozen). I can fix
the display by tilting the screen to different positions or holding it in one
    place.

Well thats the problem, ohh and recently the left hinge on the screen has becoe broken, well one half of the hinge broke so it still stays in place and the problem is just the same. I have also used an S-VIdeo cord to run the computer on a TV, the Video on the TV functions as if the monitor was fine.

I hope someone knows whats up with my laptop(From the searching i have done people seem to think its a broken inverter) and any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

You are right...it does seem to be a broken inverter...or you could have a loose connection somewhere since you said the left hinge has become broken? Send it to hp/your warranty service place if you still have the warranty...or open up your lappy and take a look...get out the manual its usually really helpful.
